thanks both of you.... the only thing I'm worried about is charging my 'smart'phone and running an FEC- not for contests but for vending and concessions. I suppose even a laptop if I brought the kids and they wanted to watch a movie.

So maybe the best of both worlds is a less expensive gen (tho I HATE the loud it makes) and run an inverter inline to one of the outlet circuits to make that circuit clean. Does that make sense or am I talking out my rear? Not sure I want to spend as much on a battery and inverter setup as I nearly would for the 6.5/8kw generator, which is needed to run ACs, water heater, and warmers.
