Thanks for your input. I'd figured it'd take a couple of days to set something up and it's a couple days drive to get there. I agree with the Red Cross etc, the thought was to either offer up a group to them or an organization on the ground there now. With the scope of the devastation all these groups resources are stretched thin according to their information. I remember all to well the responses to Katrina and other disasters since and IMO services tend to be slowwwwww to get going.
The only thing I'd thought is having hot food and cold water corralled just outside the zone could only help.
Maybe I'm off base not waiting and depending on emergency response to take care of everything but I don't think so given past events.
