Spent the day breaking in my new saw. The TV shows utter devastation a hundred yards wide, but it doesn't show the fringes. Tuscaloosa's nickname is the Druid City, for the huge oak trees in the old part of town. Those trees are still standing, but thousands of others nearly as big are down and need to be cleared so they can get the power lines back up. Lots of folks pitching in, but many more rubbernecking.
If this happens in your town, go to help, or stay home and watch the news. Don't go look, 'cause you're in the damn way.
My oldest works for an RV parts distributor in ATL; they're letting me have a generator at cost, she's bringing it tomorrow, and I can save my freezers. Alabama Power says two weeks.
It was real cozy in the closet, Buddy. We're going to go home and light a bunch of candles.
