Store it in a tightly sealed "tupperware" type container with a slice of fresh apple. The moisture will evaporate from the apple and keep the sugar from hardening. Store it in your cooler or fridge, of course so the apple won't rot. It will keep well for a week before you need to change the apple slice.
For any brown sugar that is already hard -- just nuke it in the microwave for 30 seconds. That'll usually soften it up nicely.
