Hi...I have a 427 sq in offset smoker 1/4 inch and want to raise the charcoal grate as i find the fire chokes after a number of hours. I saw someone threw out a gas Q and ravaged the grates. One fits well but raises the fire 1-2 inches higher than current inch from the bottom. Still well below the D shaped hole opening to the cooking chamber, but find the air intake opening now well below the grate where parallel before. Anything to watch out for? cooking for guests on Sat in forecasted rain and need no more surprises. IF tinkering needed will revert to old way and live with it until time allows for more testing. any tips feedback appreciated...thanks Bob
