GPSs are good for large cities; since BBQ contests are often held in them middle of nowhere, more often than not a GPS (even one whose maps have been updated and kept current) won't be able to find the location of a contest simply because that info doesn't exist for the GPS! Google Maps, Mapquest, etc. all don't always work all that well out here in "flyover country". SOMETIMES you'll get lucky and have the contest organizer give out GPS coordinates or the area is well enough known to be on various maps, but don't count on it!
