Spitjack repair question

I've been using my spitjack for a few contests now and I'm needing to figure out how to "fix" it. The metal bar that pushes the injector plunger isn't staying at the proper angle. It's too low and not catching the ribs on the blunger. If I turn the injector upside down, it will sometimes fall down and catch, but now I'm having to spend most of my time with one hand trying to trigger the inector and the other pushing the metal bar down to catch the plunger.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to possibly fix the bar to get it to catch?

Any / all help is appreciated
