I was asked to provide the BBQ for Wounded Soldiers, Caregivers and Boat Captains for the 5th Annual Patriot Cruise held by the Prince William Yacht Club. The event was Saturday June 4th and we fed about 400 folks at ZERO cost to the Yacht Club. The Soldiers and [1] Marine came down from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC and went on boat rides with the rich Sea Ray owners and then came back for the BBQ we had cooked up for them.

My Team and I raised all the money from local donations and cooked about 250lbs of Pork Shoulders and about 600 Chicken Thighs and Drums with Cole Slaw and Potato Salad. And Desserts.

Nominations:
Steve Hedrick took time off work and chipped in out of his own pocket all the while raising the majority of the money we spent. Steve also coordinated both cooking Teams and personally put on all the Butts and 1/2 the Chicken. During the Event Steve took time to individually meet and greet as many of the Wounded as he could serving the whole time.

Dj Watkins is a Pitmaster from over in Maryland that heard about the event and contacted me to travel and help. He paid his own way and drove the couple hours with his new Lang, Fruit Woods and Seasoning to help out. During the Event DJ cooked all the Drums like it was a Competition and served up Award Winning tastes while talking BBQ with the Troops.

Terri Featheroff Hedrick is a Gourmet Dessert Chef and when she heard we were doing the BBQ asked if Dessert was on the Menu. She was having nothing to do with my "nope" answer and contacted local Bakeries for Sheet cakes, Cupcakes and personally made hundreds and hundreds of Cookies and Brownies. During the Event she personally greeted almost every single one of them.

This is about the best event I've ever organized and those [3] helping Americans made feeding all the Wounded possible. I could not have done this without them and would like to Nominate them each for a Smokey Angel Spirit Award.

Let me know if you need a donation or need their address.
