Here's the wife's recipe (or should I say process) for Texas Sheet Cake:

2 cups Flour
2 cups Sugar

Mix together in mixing bowel

2 sticks butter
1 cup water
4 tbs Hershey's Cocoa (unsweetened)

Heat the above 3 ingredients in a saucepan on the stove or in the microwave, just until the butter melts and the cocoa dissolves. Then add to flour/sugar mixture - beat well.

1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Mix these ingredients together first, then add to the chocolate/flour mixture and beat well.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Check then bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Icing (this should be made in the last 5 minutes the cake is baking)

1 stick of butter
4 tbs cocoa
5 tbs milk

Heat to melt the butter and dissolve the cocoa.

Add hot mixture to 1 box of powdered sugar. Beat, then add 1 tsp vanilla. Immediately spread icing on the hot cake and top with pecans if desired.

Rick (& Debbie)
