I think the BOD wants members to spend too much money to attend the annual meeting. What is the net value of the annual meeting? I don't cook enough KCBS events to be in the running for TOY. As a result, I don't need to attend the annual meeting as a cook. As a judge, there is nothing at the annual meeting to make me want to spend the big money to fly to SD. The annual meeting has no value unless you are a cooker in the TOY race, a member of the BOD, a contest rep, or a team from the local area who wants to take in the national scene. I love to visit SD, but I don't think it is worth my while to spend a couple of thousand dollars and really have no hat in the ring at the annual meeting. The western teams in KCBS might want to attend, but for most of the rest of us, I will save my money so I can cook several additional contests in 2012. I think KCBS needs to seriously figure out how to get an annual meeting that is useful and has value for all members, and not just small subset mentioned above.
