I don't have results but I do want to report in on this contest a bit. I was there washing dishes for someone. It was an absolutely beautiful day. It is usually very, extremely hot, but not so this year. Beautiful weather. Huge crowds of people easting bbq and listening to music and enjoying the day. A lot of new bbq vendors including Hill Country. Would have liked to try their food.
It was a KCBS contest with judging split over two days--Saturday chicken and brisket with turn ins starting at 6:00, and today ribs at pork starting at 2:00.
It is a big commitment for the cooks to do this event. But the venue is amazing, nothing else like it, a very urban setting between the White House and the Capitol. It can be noisy and it is a huge street festival and the cooks who do it are to be commended for getting out there to participate. It was a fun time for me to be there but have to admit I scooted out well before the awards which were scheduled to be at 7:00 pm. M.A.
