"I wonder if a back to basics"

Top shelf judges, big money & bragging rights were to be had. Only thing is, no propane starters, no pellet fed cookers, no carousel cookers, no auto temp control or fans blowing into the fire boxes, no remote temp gauges. No electric or battery devices of any kind allowed to come in contact with the pit or the food.
