It is a good idea to turn the gas off and allow the carb to run dry on any vehicle with a switch for transport of storage.

I have done it with Motorcycles, 4 Wheelers, and generators and people always are amazed when my stuff starts right up after a year in storage.

Keeps the plugs from fouling and the butterfly valves from gumming up.

Stabil or Stabil for Ethanol is another must for storage along with filling the tank completely full for storage to stave off rust in the tanks.
