There seems to a lot of controversy over one of the Jack Daniels qualifying rules. A west coast team has 6 domestic wins and 1 foreign win. They were informed by the Jack people that to qualify under the & wins and in rule all 7 must be domestic wins. The Jack people have been accused of changing the rule to prevent this particular team from competing in their event. I found my 2009 Jack Daniels info packet, which was postmarked Sept. 8th 2009. The rule in question states "Any team that wins 7 qualifying competitions within the current bbq season (Sept 1st though Aug 31st) will be invited without going through any draws. (Only domestic wins apply). "Only domestic wins apply" is in BOLD PRINT!
This rule has been effect for a minimum of 2 years, I couldn't find my earlier packets, but suspect the "only domestic wins apply "clause has been there since The Jack added the 7 wins and in rule. The Jack is taking a lot of unwarranted heat over this and now that is obvious no one changed the rules EX POST FACTO (after the fact) I hope the Jack Bashing will stop.
