I'll be cooking my third comp this year in two weeks.
If you are recommending that judges cook w/ teams so that they learn more about the cuisine that they enjoy, than that's fine. No arguments here.
If you are recommending that judges be forced to cook w/ a team in order to enhance their ability to judge accurately I don't see any correlation between knowing what goes into the creation of the food and being able to score it accurately.
The only reason I can see that changing would be if the KCBS added a 'difficulty' or 'labor' category to the scoring.
I'm not saying that this is the case with you, but this discussion pops its head up every few months and it always seems to devolve into a perceived lack of appreciation by the judges for the effort put into cooking by the teams.
