There is rarely total agreement on almost anything in the bbq world and this is not exception. I think it is safe to say the majority of people would say it is better not to use green wood, although as you point out Myron does with great success.

I also think most folks would say bark off is better if the bark can fairly easily be removed. With hickory I have had great luck splitting it green. The bark seems to pop off every time I split it green. Then cut into chunks and allow to age.
