Way over. Fill it up to the top of the firebox and don't be shy about it. The only problem with too much charcoal is if you leave the vents open and forget about it. As long as your vents are being used to calm the fire there is no such thing as too much charcoal. It won't all get burned up. When you close it down it'll go out.
