Instead of omitting comment cards which is the easy way out imo, they should consider doing what the PNWBA does and REQUIRE it as a part of judging. Get rid of the language "suggesting" or "asking" that cards should be written and require judges do (what I consider) a part of their jobs.
As a judge being tasked with deciding who wins or loses everything from serious $$$ to bragging rights I think we OWE it to the teams to give them some idea why we scored their particular turn in the way we did.
That is the one thing I think they've earned a RIGHT to expect with all the work and $$ they put out to create the good stuff we as judges get to eat.
The other thing this would help with is being an indicator if a judge that needs some direction. If the TC or rep reads a particular card and sees comments outside the judging criteria this might indicate a judge who's got some bad info maybe?
To sum it up I think information/feedback is very important and would argue there needs to be more not less.
