I cook both FBA and KCBS and there are plus good and bad about each. Obviously what you are used to has the advantage. Having done KCBS for 10 years before starting FBA I was conditioned on the 1/2 hour and at first at FBA didn't know what to do. On the other hand you sure can clean up and have stuff organized for the next turn in.
I think for now KCBS should keep the half hour and keep the difference between sanctioning bodies. It keeps cooks that do both on their toes.
