made another batch of this stuff this weekend, and wrote down measurements for once to share with some friend on FB, so i thought i'd share here too:

Red's Bitter, Clingy BBQ Sauce

This recipe originally started out as an attempt to follow a non-recipe from a little BBQ place in Birmingham Alabama, where they said their white sauce* was "Mayonnaise, Hellman's not Miracle Whip, cider vinegar and black pepper." Sunday's batch was the first time i ever measured anything when making it.

3 cups real mayo: not generic, not healthy, the good stuff

1 cup real apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup fine black pepper

3 Tablespoons garlic powder

2 Tablespoons onion powder

1 small tube of prepared wasbi (1.5oz?)

Blend mayo and vinegar together until smooth consistency, then add in spices. make day before if possible so flavors have time to meld, but eve a couple hours will do in a pinch.

i didn't have any wasabi powder, or i would have used that. it occurred to me when i sat down to type this that i should try a batch made with balsamic recipe is safe around me. %-)

*hence the "bitter clingy" name... or i guess you could just call this "typical BBQ sauce", even though it is anything but.
