I have to say a few things.
Jack has been a friend of mine for quite a few years and is a very dedicated bbq nut like me and he works a full time job (not bbq related) that helps support his bbq addiction and does what few things he can to generate a little money from his passion to help fund his hobby such as running a great school (that I have attended 3 times) and trying to win a dollar now and then.
With that said anyone in this hobby knows how expensive it is and would not consider him to work in the bbq field as a professional. For that matter he would most likely love to have all of the people saying bad things come over to hang out with him and show them how to cook ribs. He is just that kind of guy. If anyone would care to remember he put on a seminar at last year's bbq convention in Greenville, SC about how to cook whole hog. He did it for free including cooking a hog, making a slide presentation, driving 200 miles and putting himself up in a motel for a couple of days, and every one there was welcome to come watch, listen, and ask questions.
I think the comments on the link are just sour grapes from someone that does not know beans about cooking ribs.
