A few weeks ago I posted a message about pork shoulder cuts and found that my grocery store usually has 4 lbs. boston butts with the blade in and 8 pound picnics. Originally I was going to start doing a 8 lbs. boston butt but will do the two instead.

Two my understanding the general rule I have read is and hour per pound at 250 degrees. Since they are two separate 4 lbs ones do I smoke around 4 hours or since there are 8 pounds of meat in the smoker do I smoke at around 8 hours? What I'm trying to say is that are two separate 4 lbs. cuts equal to one whole 8 lbs. or are they different?
