We were at the contest in North Charleston, SC this past summer. We got there Friday afternoon and went down to see if we were needed to help with any Friday night judging. The reps said they could use us. I was TC for the sauce contest. I had two cooks at my table who the organizer found and asked to help out. Let me tell you what a couple of BUTT'S these guys were. They acted like they were doing everyone a favor just for being there. Both scored every entry a 6 on appearance and nothing more than a 7 on taste and texture. As a judge, after that experiance, I find it very hard to give any credibility to all of the complaints from a few cooks about what they feel is unfair judging. It's nothing but a bunch of sour grapes as far as I care.
I will continue to judge and do my dead level best to be as fair and honest as I possibly can and if you don't get the score you feel you should maybe you are not being honest with yourself. JMHO.
