Everyone preaches that simpler is better, yet no one turns it in at a contest. Why? Because it won't win. More flavor wins. That's not the judges being taught "wrong," that's their own taste buds telling them what they like. So why does simpler taste better to us? Could it be that simple barbecue is better to people who eat complicated barbecue all the time? If everyone eats a big bowl of Crunch Berries every morning for a month, then has a nice bowl of boring ol' Cheerios, those Cheerios are going to taste fantastic. It doesn't say anything about the Crunch Berries or the Cheerios - they're both good. But I'm sure some people would still condemn Crunch Berries as not being a real breakfast.
