Barb, I have gotten free entries before... raffles, by winning a contest and getting a free entry the following year and by doing Web site work for a contest. I have, at least in the seven years I've been competing so far, never been offered to talk up a contest online in exchange for a free entry. I have taken it upon myself to do so unsolicited on a couple of occasions. Huron, SD and Seymour, MO are the examples there. I can't speak for anyone else but if I am ever promoting a contest online, free entry or not, it's because I've cooked it and thought that it was especially well-organized and very cooker friendly with a lot of the amenities that teams look for. I believe as cookers, we should help each other find the best contests out there and let each other know when we find a really good contest. I think it's along the same lines as when we help others at comps who might have forgotten something, etc.
