well, i use the term "giving back" because i have taken something. usually its peoples hard earned dollars and trust. i agree 100% that everybody should keep their word. i know that can be painful, i've seen it in past events. if there is a legitimate concern that an organizer(or charity) is not doing as promised, i could see investigating. but, chances are, their character will bite them in the ass before long anyway :).

ps- i think contests are a business. poorly run, the contest organizer will loose money, the contest won't be back, and no charity will benefit.
