After a couple of bouts with my Honda 2000i not starting, my local dealer/repair shop warned me about using any gasoline with ethanol in it. Since heeding his advice I keep ethanol-free gas around for all my small engines. No problems.

Like some of the other posters have said, you need to run them every so often as well. When exercising a generator, always put a load on the generator when it's running, don't just run the generator without a load.

Sta-Bil makes a treatment for gasoline with ethanol in it too.
