My guess, based on what I've read is that you've publicly stated that you've used KCBS rules in the past and the statement was fairly recent.
Based on that statement, KCBS does have a legal obligation to protect what it considers to be protected intellectual property. I'm not an IP attorney, but I do retain one since a portion of my income is derived from software development. There was little choice in the matter. Failure to do diligence, and take action would only serve to erode the legal protection that exists.
If your rules are significantly different, make that clear in your reply and the issue should be resolved quickly and painlessly. Don't take it personally.
