Mike,

I have an Oklahoma Joe's double door trailer smoker and I have the same problem but mine is about 25-30 degrees difference. I have a convention tube in my smoker and have learned that if I cook my meat on the bottom racks that it is a pretty consitant temp. if my gauges read 325 degree across the top then the bottom rack is around 250 degrees or so. I have also learned that hot and cold spot are a good thing incase you get into trouble and need to speed up or slow down the cooking process. Just my .02 cents. Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks
