I think a guy could get an offset to even temps left to right if you would extend the convection plate all the way through the pit.
I had a couple big Klose pits a few years back, one had a 10 ft barrel. It had tuning plates all the way through. Seems to me that cooker stayed within about 20/25 degrees the entire 10 ft length.
Would think you could get a sheet of steel, drill some holes in it and add on to your convection plate and do the same sort of thing.
