The good part about a new year is the opportunity to start anew, correct errors of the past year and strive to do better this year.
Last year is over, and as you say "life is short" so on new years eve we buried all the negative crud that happened and are looking for a bright new start tossing away the people that stress us out, life will take care of 'em we don't need to anymore.

I really think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill here. I think you are still searching for ways to 'get back' at 'the people that stress you out' you put it. I don't think you are the 'fairness police' that you pretty much claim you are in this thread. Just MHO
