I do LCB's at the restaurant every Friday night. I like to add to it also some button mushrooms or baby ports and Artichoke hearts. I did the shrimp at a count of 26-30 separately and add to the rest of the boil per order so they wouldn't get rubbery. We would give about 12 shrimp per order (Where you live and the availability of shrimp will determine your final cost and amount of shrimp per person) and we would charge $13.95 per person. This is a "special" and the price is adjustable to market costs.
Do your boil as you normally would. Reserve some of the liquid to do your shrimp separately. Our food cost was at about 50%. This might seem high but look at it this way...
We would make roughly $7.00+ per each. You're not going to make that money making a cheeseburger. ) Also because of the spice we also sold a lot of drinks to go with them.
For your event you only have 50 people. 50 x 7 is only $350 profit (this isn't even real because of your other costs involved) based on my example. If you were able to sell them on hors d'oeuvres and a dessert you could boost your profits to make it worth your while.
