Ammonium hydroxide, the evil chemical used to process "pink slime," is also used in making pretzels, green olives, grits and ramen noodles, among other foods. It's no big deal. But, the entire episode is an excellent example of how to use fear - in particular, big scary words from chemistry class - to get ignorant people to agree with you.
