Can chicken be both brined then marinated?

Can chicken be both brined then marinated? Or does the salt water filled cells not allow marinade to penetrate after brining? Also does anyone seperate skin from brine/marinade in order to keep dry, thus crispy / bite through. Looked through archives, couldn't find anything specfically adressing the issue, and it has been nagging me for too long. Gotsta know.
