Stick one of these into a semi sealed can/metal container filled with sawdust/chips and monitor closely for flame-ups and you have a very afordable smoke generator. Should work very well for you. Remember you can't "cold smoke" any lower than the ambient temperature outside without special equipment. Also if cold smoking for more than an hour or 2 you need to have the right amount of cure in your meat to prevent spoilage.
