Ok the only reason i posted that comment was that I am asking a serious q is kcbs a sport but you All are not taking my comment seriously.

This is BBQ brother...we all have a sense of humor. We all joke around. No reason to attack people.

Now to answer your question seriously - KCBS is not a sport, it is an organization. Competition BBQ could be considered a sport as there are many different leagues, from KCBS to MBN, from PNWBA to FBA...and about 20 others I can think of off the top of my head. Some of these leagues include backyard divisions, an example is Memphis in May - they have the Patio Porkers. This division consists of 40 backyard (amatuer) teams. Now if you win Patio you can never cook in Patio again, you gotta move up and cook with the "Big Boys".

Anyone off the street CAN do what we do. KCBS is not just for professionals, in fact I'd say over 80% of the teams cook less than 4 contests a year. The question is can they do it well enough to keep doing it every weekend. If I was a crazy, independently wealthy home cook that thought my food was the best ever, could I cook every weekend across the country...absolutely. It doesn't take ANY talent to be IN competition BBQ, just money...It takes talent to WIN in competition BBQ.
