Candy, Thanks! The wood is dry, not green. I don't soak the wood ( haven't before) before using. With limited air flow in these cookers, I haven't seen a lot of fire from the wood burn except after I open the fire box door or lid on the BGE. Then it will start to flame up when it gets enough air.
You said "unflavorful wood". Are you saying the dried wood doesn't give the flavor of a wet or green wood?
