I know the trend you're talking about, but garnish isn't a part of the score -- we score on the appearance of the meat, not the "grass".

The garnish can be distracting at times, especially when it is obvious that somebody has spent a lot of effort fluffing and preening it to "perfection".

Unfortunately, in KCBS competition, the garnish is "traditional" (not required, but always there) and I fear that any team who ignores at least some greenery may pay for it because some judge who doesn't remember how to deal with it will mark them down. I have seen only one un-garnished box in the last five years.
