I have one of each. I'm on my second egg. The first was actually orange clay and not "ceramic".

Both cook great. I like the heat deflector set up in the Primo better (two plates vs the one big one) so you can actually add charcoal to the thing for long cooks without having to take everything out. And it has a metal seperator for the fire box that truly lets you divide the fire for offset cooking and direct grilling.

Both are heavy as anvils to move around.

Tell your friend he won't be disappointed with either choice.
