Some time ago I told a new friend of mine (Kat) who owns a bar about something I learned here on the forum. That is that there's nothing better than sitting next to the smoker while it's humming along with a glass of Gentleman Jack with 3 ice cubes in hand, a good cigar and cold beer on the ready. Don't forget there's got to be some jazz and blues playing lightly in the background.
I've been catering her anniversary parties since I moved here to Florida however I never told her about this until last summer. Well, when I went to her bar to get started cooking for her anniversary party last weekend her cable tv was out. There was a message on the tv screen saying "they were working on it". Nice thing was that the tv was playing some jazz and blues while it was out.
I got the pit rolling and the butts and briskets went on. I was hanging out in front of the smoker talking with her husband when out walks Kat with a little gift bag for me. Sure enough it was a bottle of GJ.)
Then just like that her comes a man everybody calls Uncle Bob. A big jolly old boy he is. He never heard anything about my beer, GJ, jazz n blues and bbq thing. Sure enough he pulls out 2 "real Cuban" cigars for him and I.
The stars were aligned that day. The bbq was good and the way everything came about made a great lifelong memory.
