Boil first in large propane turkey friers and then on the grill for a very short period of time (they're already hot so you're just charring them up a bit)and then into a steam pan on a chafing dish with sterno. Have fed hundreds this way. Instead of keep adding to one pan, have 3 steam pans with sterno going. One out front serving, one next to it, keeping warm, one in back getting filled. When the first front pan is empty,take foil off the other one, send the empty one to the back, bring fresh one covered in foil from the back. Just keep rotating pans. Makes sure all hot dogs ae eaten in the order they were cooked and provides you time to exchange empty pans for full ones without disrupting service.
Only thing you have to watch for is to not boil more hot dogs then your grill can handle. Hot dogs overboiled have a tendency to fall apart.
