Funny, Ray! Actually, if you read a little closer, you'd see I said we got TWO 9's! And, yes, I wouldn't have scored my box that! Probably a 7, maybe an 8 on a good day. No way would I have given our box a 9 if you value uniformity... But, hey, if a judge exclusively looks for, "Does it look like delicious barbecue chicken?", then I guess I can see how a judge would've scored it a 9. The chicken looked good, but they definitely were not even close to being trimmed to the same size.

One thing I liked more when it comes to home brewing contests versus BBQ contests is there is a master judge at each table for the brewing contests and the other judges are only allowed to deviate so much from the master judge's score. Beer judging has much stricter criteria and so there is less subjectivity and range in scoring.
