To seal or not to seal that is the question

I bought a Treager 075 and so far it's been great. Now for the question. The door closes alright, but does not seal tight. I have done searches about putting a seal on the door, and everything I have found all say it works great. But when I called one of our dealers here that also sells fireplace items told me NOT to seal the door. That pellet cookers need this gap so that the system works right. If I seal the door, there is a possibility that a fire might result in the auger system.
So has anyone here put a seal on their treager? Don't want a big fire.
