Yep...it's all being planned out. $25k purse,(in the bank) $175 entry fee. Designing it for 100 teams.
Just because we want to salute our vets and active duty troops.
I missed a meeting and got elected as the organizer. :) September 27th & 28th, 2013. Will be somewhere in the Denver metro area, need to find a good location that will accommodate 10-15,000 spectators per day and the parking. The rest of it is puppy chow. $5k to the GC, $50 to 10th place in chicken. Paying through 10th overall and all 4 categories.
KCBS is on board, and it is a RMBBQA Cup Event. 100% CBJs. Lot's of fun stuff already on the books...like two fly overs of F-16s from Buckley AFB, one for the opening ceremonies on Friday and one at the 10:00 Salute on Saturday. Live entertainment and such. A real Kids Q event also...not a Parents Cook/Kids Watch Q. Some serious money in that one too. Another entry will be the "Host a Soldier" comp on Friday night, kinda like an anything butt...except this will be judged by our volunteer troops or vets...No CBJs for this one. And it has an additional $2500 purse.
Email me and I will send you a copy of the logo. It's cool!
Oh, and the event is two weeks old today. Sorry there is not more information available... :)
