So,hours after I posted my original comment, my next door neighbor knocks on the door and informs us that her 96 year old Mother, Vera had passed away...(she'd been ill for about 3 months). Great neighbors. Great, great old lady! She had lived next door with her daughter for the last 17 years... 2 daughters, 9 grandchildren, (only 1 grandson-the youngest, and he was my neighbor's son (who loved my q). 21 great grandkids, one great-great grandbaby and one just a month away... Long story, short....Very Italain family...

I introduced them to BBQ over the years.... just about every time I smoked something, I shared a litle of it with them.... They loved my ribs... The grandson, Mike was always trying to get me to open a bbq restaurant... When I got my 22" WSM, I gave one of my 18" WSM's to them. (My son and son-in-law already had two 18 inchers).....

So, anyway, I knew there would be the need for a big meal for their family, all arriving on Saturday. I had about 15 pounds of country ribs in the freezer so I immediately put them in a brine over night. Then Dizzy Pig Rub. On the the WSM for about 3 -1/2 hours, Royal Oak Lump, apple and hickory wood chunks, and "Wicked Good Barbecue IQUE Sauce.... plus my "Smitty's Crazy Baked Beans",(apple, raisin, onion, red pepper, cinnamon, Woody's BBQ Marinade) and my BBQ slaw,(again, Woody's BBQ marinade, red peppers, egg, onion).... My wife, Vicki, made one of her infamous ice cream sandwich casserole desserts..... They loved it... Remember when this what it was really all about? Still... I enjoy judging and someday would love to compete........ but, really, nothing is more satisfying than sharing.
