GG, I respect your opinion and I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
BBQ has been built up and the organizations funded over the years by people from across this nation, not just KC or any of the other so called "prestigious" BBQ places. As for not having anything to do with money, in the end it's always got something to do with money and /or the control of it. In the end what really rankles me is when rules are set to clearly exclude any other sanctioning group but two or three (but I'd bet closer to only one). Some could even argue that it gives the impression that there's only one true sanctioning body like it or not and the rest need to just go the way of the un-candied chicken turn in.
That's part of the attitude that started these other bodies to begin with and in my opinion for whatever that's worth will be signal the slow death of it if it continues.

Everyone has to be well aware that if you remove the chance to get a trip to the Royal/Jack you might as well fold up your sanctioning body's tent 'cause it's all over as many teams won't bother with your events.
I'd hope the Royal will reconsider and the Jack won't follow suit for the sake of those that don't want to bow down to a particular sanctioning body for whatever reason.
