Kansas City, Memphis, Carolina and Texas are all merely "so called" prestigious BBQ places. Ok, then.
"That's part of the attitude that started these other bodies to begin with..." - So people who didn't like the KCBS decided to form their own sanctioning bodies, and now they want the American Royal, a Kansas City institution since 1905 and a barbecue partner with the KCBS since the competition's inception, to help those other competing sanctioning bodies grow and succeed?
I understand the frustration, and I appreciate that people in non-traditional barbecue locations want their due. And for years, I've been vocal about the KCBS needing to go back to the focus on teaching people how to barbecue, as opposed to my personal perception that the organization today is more about helping people make money from barbecue. But expecting the Royal to choose to help break-off sanctioning bodies would be like the USFL asking the NFL to help them make it. Sorry, but I don't blame them a bit if they decline.
