Wow GGP - really?
My original post was about "money" - and I think you drove you the last coffin nail to prove that AR is about money.
If the AR was really concerned about "promoting BBQ" - then they would welcome any and all Grand Champions into the Invitational and not worry about how many "paying" teams they could sucker in to the Open. Open teams = MONEY. Invitiational teams = promotion and finacial liability (that's payout, in laymans' terms).
And I still take HUGE offense that a 20 team contest is not as important as a 50, 75, 100 team contest in "PROMOTING" bbq, thus should be banned from the AR. Those 20 teams spent just as much money, time, manhours, etc preparing and cooking as any other team. Just because there were less competitors doesn't make them inferior. By your own words, you admit that teams cook in small contests as "bottom feeders" and "poachers". That makes them inferior THAT weekend but not next weekend when they cook a 75 team contest? Nice way to treat your fellow cooks.
Yup, the AR is it's own thing - and MONEY is their goal. The BIG TIMERS and metro guys need to remember we ALL put our pants on ONE leg at a time!
