Good question that has about as many answers as there are models. We were full timers 2 years ago in a 38 ft 5th wheel that I bought new after a ton of research. Hitchhiker is a good brand, well thought of and a choice of many for full time living. One thing you want to look for is a rig that's rated for full time use as they're built different from the cougar, keystone bottom line rigs. We had a 2010 Montana Big Sky that was very comfortable, kept us warm in MT winter and cool in the AZ summer. It had washer/dryer (stack) hookups dual a/c,heated belly etc and a nice big shower.
If you can find a clean used DoubleTree http://www.drvsuites.com you'd be more than pleased and it should last quite a while without the issues that come up with "lesser" models that are not built as heavy.
