I'd like to hear from other TEC owners, in particular the first gen with the ceramic burners.
I've owned a Sterling 2 for almost 12 years but in that time I have had to replace the ceramic plate of the burners ($120 each x2) every 2 years or so. I love the grill and use it all year round and often wonder if the cold winter temps cause the cracking of the ceramic, but that's the best part of the TEC, it gets HOT in the cold of winter! At the cost of $240 every 2 years, I could be buying a new 'throw-away' BBQ for the same price.
Any other TEC owners experience this? Is there a fix?
My TEC lives out doors under a cover. I never use drippy sauces or spill liquids on the burners (a caution from TEC). I keep the grill clean and dry.
